Northpoint Homeschool Classes

"... And they shall be all taught of God ..."

- John 6:45

This directory is for personal use only and is not to be used for commercial or business purposes.

I have been a teacher at Northpoint for the past five years and it has been a wonderful place to teach. I have so appreciated the chance to invest in students' lives and teach openly from a Biblical perspective, without having to deal with all of the administrative, government regulated politics that I would face were I at a traditional school. I have been given a large amount of flexibility to adapt my curriculum to the needs of a two-day-a-week system that still fulfills state standards.

Northpoint provides an atmosphere in which I can get to know my students and teach what needs to be taught. I am so grateful for the opportunity to be here!

- Erica Dick, Northpoint teacher

Lydia Abbott
muzic4you@gmail.com

COURSES: Spanish I (HS),   Spanish II (HS),   Spanish III (HS)

Lydia Abbott graduated from Northpoint in 2006 as one of the program’s first graduates. In 2007, she went to Guadalajara, Mexico, to attend a Spanish language school. After becoming fluent in Spanish, she returned back to the states to receive training as a medical interpreter through St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Although Lydia completed the courses, God led her in a different direction and she began traveling full time working with missions. Lydia is a Christian singer and inspirational speaker who travels the world to deliver the beautiful message of hope and salvation through Jesus Christ. She has been to fifteen countries in the past ten years and continues to travel where the Lord opens doors. She has five CDs, two of which are in Spanish. Because Lydia speaks Spanish fluently she travels to many Spanish speaking countries. She is able to communicate directly with the people in their language as she performs concerts - in Spanish - in open air areas, rehab centers, churches and other venues. It has always been her goal to learn songs in the language of every country she visits as she knows the importance of communicating in their own dialect. In Lydia's words "we all have talents the Lord has given us and it's important to use them for His glory!" Because Lydia has traveled many times to Cuba, Mexico, Dominican Republic and Brazil, she has a vast knowledge of Latino culture which will be invaluable as she teaches Spanish to Northpoint students. Lydia will continue her mission trips during Northpoint breaks throughout the year which will provide the opportunity to share her experiences with students in hopes of inspiring them. You can view Lydia’s mission videos on YouTube by searching “Lydia Abbott”.

COURSES: 4th-6th Grade Bible,   Bible Foundations (MS),   Bible: Reasons to Believe (HS)

Gary is the Pastor of Onward Church in Fishers. Gary is a native Hoosier and was in the business world for almost 20 years, but became a pastor after his wife was killed when their car was hit by a drunk driver. It left him with four children to rear. Through this experience God taught Gary the value of his faith and his family in a profound way. In 1989, he married his wife Kathy, and together they raised their four children—all of whom are now married and faithfully serving the Lord through the ministries of their local churches. In addition to the four children, they had one more son born in 1998, and twelve grandchildren. One of his greatest joys is having all the kids and grandkids over to their house for dinner. The chaos and noise is awesome! For recreation, Gary roots for the Colts, plays golf, and likes to fish with his son in the pristine streams and rivers of upstate New York. Gary Studied at Indiana University, The American College, Crossroads Bible College and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
